Last Far Eastern
A vast colour spectrum from white,
through blue to ochre and green.
Even the grey,
snaking, Kirkstone road,
added to promise
of a great day.
White veils slipped down the gullies pulling a little doubt on whether we would be walking through the mist or enjoying a mountain slideshow.
As we set off up the wonderfully titled Pasture Bottom, our return,
via Gray Crag, was still swathed,
while Hartsop was etched against vivid blue.
Looking back to Brothers Water the far hills were opening up with just a little haze
Threshwaite juggled sunshine and cloud, as the temperature dropped
and the grass turned to icy shards
An appropriate stop for lunch. To watch the mercury flow down the valley,
Ill Bell and Froswick grace us with their presence.
Gray Crag was grey no longer.
Blue, white, ice.
Highstreet folded behind a frozen forest.
A little lugubrious mist remaining,
fighting with the sun over Hayeswater Gill
A losing battle.
In the valley, Hayeswater as smooth as glass.
So we dropped off the snow line with the sun clear in the sky
and the promise of another good day tomorrow, with my last ‘Far Eastern’ complete.

Wow, what spectacular scenery. I think the second to last shot has to be my favourite.
Thank you. Lucky to live here.
What beautiful scenery. Popping over from The Gallery.
Thank you – post kids adventures! 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous, the things we miss going about our daily grind. I love the third last photo, ice and cold in the for front and the warmth on the hills in the distance
Thank you – hope you get to see it some time
