Walking the Wainwright List

Walking the Wainwright List

Sometimes I think that I would be better off joining a gym.

It would be warm.

It would be dry.

There would be wonderful aromas.

It would be sociable.

Running in a line, never going anywhere.

Talking to fellow human beings.  Through an iPod.  Plenty to occupy the mind then.  MTV.  Lunch with a franchised cappuccino

What could  contest with this dry, ‘sanitise’ cocoon?

The Tongue

The Tongue – Mungrisdale

Heading up a hill, towards an indistinct sky because a man called Alfred put it in a book.

Glendermarkin

Glendermarkin

To see nothing but grass, and rocks.

Mist

Such a sociable occupation.  Another few metres and your friends disappear altogether!

Even in this mild spell there is the snow.

What pleasure in walking past the odd pile of stones?  When you can see them.

Bannerdale Crags

Bannerdale

Even if you can, well hills and bogs all look the same don’t they?

bogs

On site refreshment stops offer a great deal of comfort.

Images viewed on wide screen don’t offer much in the way of variety.

Souther Fell

A few more hills

Mungrisdale

A bit of light and the odd rainbow.

Is there a contest?

Which would you rather do?

Twelve months ago – it was a little different

Bowscale

  1. With the exception of Mungrisedale Common, a great little walk though. Well done.
