Walk and Travel in Cumbria and Beyond

Rain to Shine

Rain to Shine

and back again.

Sometimes the rain is a pain.

Sometimes plans are change.

Other times there is no choice but to go out anyway,

and it is wonderful.

In her month’s holiday, Friday was the only full day my cousin from Oz and I could grab together.

The forecast was a bit grim so a boat ride with walk options.  If nothing else we could see the drama from the lake and circle back to Glenridding.

Up the lake, or should I say ‘water’ and cloud vied with sun and rain splashed over the boat.  Under the canvas and over us.

This was looking like a wet walk day.

Howtown was awash.

Hope crept in with a rainbow over us,

Doubt about this walk.  We stayed on till Pooley Bridge.

And then things cleared.

So at Pooley Bridge we alighted.  Walking back via Howtown.

Within 5 minutes it was raining again.  Large, wet monsoon style drops.  That soak you through.  So wet the camera remained in it’s water proofs for a while.  Decision time at Howtown.  Boat or walk?

Fickle as ever,

and remained.

Lakes weather may be fickle and inclement but at times it’s worth taking a risk and going for a walk.
