November Weekend

November Weekend

With ‘readers’ comes responsibility! Thank you those of you who have signed up to have my posts delivered direct to your email. I will try to entertain and inform.  Just now a lot of time is spent just ‘sprucing’ up the site. Some of it you will not even notice.

Weekend has been a mixture of rain and sun with a heavy helping of wind which led to some wonderfully dramatic skies on Friday. Being sandwiched between the sea and the hills often leads to wonderful light, as well as pretty wet, miserable and dull conditions.

Saturday I went south. I am allowed from time to time. It was time to visit my son, feed him, fill up his Oyster card etc. We went to pay homage to the occupation by St Pauls. It was organised and peaceful with poignant messages, relevant to anyone, well everyone really, who has an interest in preserving any of our remaining natural environment.

Then today, the promise of ‘upland gales’ was not too good, but after a city day yesterday I needed my fix. From Newby Bridge I walked up to Finsthwaite Tower and High Dam. Not too long, only about 2.5 hours, even allowing for photograph stops. I followed a route found in the Cicerone South Lakes Guide. Lovely woods with great colours. The beauty of the bracken covering the hills means lovely golden colours even when the leaves have all fallen.

If you enjoy my pictures and words, please like and share.
