Though I don’t get out as much as I ought to, I love the Lakes for walking, especially low-level wanderings. A favourite is to go from Grasmere to Rydal along the Coffin Route. It’s an easy walk and combines culture with natural beauty as both Wordsworth’s homes and his grave can be visited along the way. To return via the twin beauties of Rydal Water and Grasmere lake makes it a lovely day out.
