Great Day on Gable
Harping on about the weather again!
But this time because it was good!
Cumbria has had a bit of a wash out summer and autumn is not proving to be much better.
Being able to grab an odd day of sunshine was positively exciting and a hill had to be sought.
Days of heavy rain meant white water spewed over Seathwaite Slabs. Splicing between now golden bracken.
Deep green of summer still lingering in the valley
Only just managing to catch the rainbow falling of Sour Milk Gill.
Not having to hike up Base Brown, Gillercomb is a relatively easy stroll up the track to Blackmoor Pols.
We just lingered in the sunshine and enjoyed the view.
Before carrying on up Green Gable and the unfolding fells and valleys of Buttermere.
Down to Windy Gap and Great Gable. So satisfying to have some visibility down the other side to Wasdale.
Just because it was a route we hadn’t done, we retraced our steps to Windy Gap and then took the scree of Aaron Slack to Styhead tarn.
With an easy walk down the bridle way to Stockley Bridge.
